Board of Directors Elected by, and responsible to the membership, the goals of the Board of Directors are to conduct the affairs of the Society; establish, implement, and direct activities to ensure adherence to the goals and objectives of the Society; provide leadership to the membership; and to fulfill the corporate mandate, as identified in the Bylaws. - Active member in good standing,
- commitment to the goals of the Society,
- Service or contributions to the Society,
- contributions to the field of SCI medicine or research
- willingness to attend bi-annual Board Meetings.
Members interested in serving on the Board are asked to submit a Letter of Interest and current curriculum vitae to the incumbent APS president (c/o American Paraplegia Society 75-20 Astoria Blvd. Jackson Heights, NY 11370) before the nomination deadline of February 1, each year. Current Board Member(s) whose term(s) of office expire must also submit a Letter of Interest if they wish to continue to serve on the Board. The Nominating Committee will select a slate of nominees. A ballot containing the slate will be mailed to the membership by March 1. Newly elected Board Members will be notified by May 1 and will assume their positions at the close of the Annual Business Meeting in September. Members may also submit Letters of Interest for a BOD position and for appointment to a Society Committee. Please consider this opportunity to take an active role in our Society.
